Consulting, sales, installation, training, and support services available for Novell, 3Com, and Microsoft Windows NT. We utilize the Novell "Small Business Netware
Advisor" software, to fully analyze and determine your needs and costs for
networks. Whether you're planning a first network or adding to an existing one, whether
there are already computers in the environment or not, the Novell Network Assistant will
create a graphical diagram of all the elements--server, workstations, printers, CD-ROM
drives, even Internet access connectors--in the network. It even builds a 'shopping list'
as you work, keeping track of components and their approximate costs. Then it will help
you analyze, adjust, and modify until the network satisfies your requirements. When it
does, you can print both the diagram and shopping list. Network Hardware
3Com has over 18 years of experience in the networking
business. This technological expertise is leveraged into each of our quality small
business products. Each product is designed to be reliable, scaleable, and easy to
install, so that you can begin to enjoy the benefits of networking without spending hours
reading manuals. Why do I need a network in my business? Networks let you share everything from files to e-mail,
programs to printers, and much, much more. When your computers are connected, your people
are too. What type of network will I need for my business? There are two basic types of small business
networks: peer-to-peer and client-server. If you're
looking for the easiest network to install and have approximately five or less computers
to connect, then a peer-to-peer network is for you. A peer-to-peer
network is a single group of computers that are connected to a central point, or hub. All
computers on the network are able to communicate with each other. If you have approximately six or more computers to connect and you're interested in sharing larger items like databases, then you should consider a client-server network. With a client-server network, you store all shared applications and files on one central computer known as the server. You can keep personal files on your own computer, but you use the server to access shared files and peripherals (like printers, fax machines, and modems).
How does the network communicate? Every desktop computer in your network requires a Network Interface Card (NIC) to connect it to the rest of the network. 3Com's EtherLink® and Fast EtherLink NICs are the world's most popular NICs. They use 3Com's patented Parallel Tasking® technology to give you the fastest network connection. EtherLink and Fast EtherLink NICs provide DynamicAccess features, powerful software that improves network performance and functionality. These NICs come with a lifetime warranty.
Features include:
I've got printers, fax machines, and CD-ROM drives in my office. Is there a way that the people on my staff can share these valuable resources? Print, fax, and CD-ROM servers can bring added productivity
to your network by allowing you to share expensive equipment. 3Com, in partnership with
Castelle® Corporation, has designed OfficeConnect Print, Fax, and CD-ROM Servers so that
your small business can save time and money.
How can I access the Internet through my network? I'd like to keep my employees up to date and online. If you're looking for a fast, efficient way for one person to go online, look to the 3ComImpact IQ External ISDN Modem. This modem offers high-speed access to the Internet and corporate intranets. It was designed to increase productivity in online communications, and it is the industry's fastest and easiest ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) modem to install and configure.
If you're looking for an affordable way to hook the whole office up to the Internet, keep in mind that 3Com offers a complete line of OfficeConnect remote access products. These products enable you to save money by providing shared Internet access instead of individual accounts.
